When the Heart Heals

When the Heart Heals is the newest book in the Sisters at Heart Series by Ann Shorey.  Rosemary Saxon has worked hard to build a life in Noble Springs while maintaining her independence and gaining acceptance from the townspeople.  Serving as a nurse during the Civil War has made many people consider her vulgar.  Yet, Rosemary desperately needs a job and the new doctor in town might be her only hope to support herself.  Dr. Elijah Stewart is hesitant to hire a female nurse especially one with such an outspoken and hot tempered personality as Rosemary.  Yet the more time they work together they find themselves drawn to each other.   Yet old emotional scars and a mysterious townsperson with a vendetta might tear them apart forever.

I love the Civil War time era and this book brought an interesting historical aspect to light with society’s disregard of female nurses after the war.  This novel had several interesting sidebars that made the story very enjoyable and set up for another book in the series.  The mystery in the book made it very exciting and you can’t help but enjoy Rosemary’s fiery personality.  This was a great read that I really enjoyed.  Looking forward to more books in this series!
