The Tutor's Daughter

The Tutor’s Daughter is Julie Klassen’s newest book.  Emma Smallwood is desperately worried about the decline of her father’s spirits after her mother’s death.  John Smallwood’s depression has led to their once successful school for boys to having no pupils to pay the bills.  Boldly, Emma writes to a wealthy gentleman to see if her father can tutor his younger sons.  Sir Giles pleasantly accepts under the condition that John and Emma Smallwood come to the family home in Cornwall.  The Smallwoods find themselves in a home full of secrets and some could prove very dangerous to Emma.

If you love Jane Austin you will instantly fall in love with this book!  Klassen is a master author and her research and knowledge of the era in which she writes is outstanding.  The love story, mystery and rich history make this an incredible read that I plan to come back to again and again.  I have always adored Elizabeth Bennett and now I absolutely adore Emma Smallwood.  Anyone who enjoys historical fiction will find this book fascinating!
