Sixty Acres and a Bride by Regina Jennings is the story of two widows returning to Texas after losing both of their husbands to the coal mines of Mexico.  Their Texas ranch is in danger of foreclosure unless the women come up with several years worth of back taxes in only a few months.  Rosa doesn’t mind working from dawn till dusk to save her dead husband’s land, but feels like she can never fit into this Texas culture.  Weston Garner is fighting old ghosts and finds Rosa too attractive to get too close.  Rosa has nowhere else to go if they lose the land.  She fights every day to save the land to atone for a husband who never loved her.  Rosa is not only trying to save the land, but her heart from Weston.

I couldn’t wait to get my hands on this one and my instincts were right-AMAZING!  I can’t believe that this was the author’s first novel because it was so powerful.  This book has just the right amount of conflict, suspense, romance and action.  A western Ruth story where Widow Rosa is not only in need of a savior but has the power to save Weston from himself.  This is one of the best books I have read in a long time!  Highly recommend!
